Sand

I am but a grain of sand
On a foreign beach
Admired from afar
But never truly cherished

One small grain of sand
Falling through the hourglass
In a moment's pass
Waiting to be crushed by those that follow

So many grains of sand
Slipping through your fingers
Their stories left untold
On a silent shore

I am but a grain of sand
Alone the wind may carry me away
But instead I am surrounded
As I face towards the sea

Image

You’re looking in the mirror

And you think you see perfection

While beneath that flawlessness lies a heart of ice

You wander the world with pride

For you are a king

A tyrant who enforces with pain

Yet somehow through it all

There are those who still worship you

They seek to light the flame burned out inside

You leave behind you trails of warm emotion

So sweet in contrast to your cold and bitter touch

That others drown in its promise

You’re looking in the mirror

And you think you see perfection

Not knowing what the mirror sees when it looks back at you
